Art as a Healing Force: Disadvantaged youth get a chance to be seen as artists.
Over 125 children will participate in The Art of Transformation, which is an art exhibition that honors the extraordinary artworks of the children who receive treatment from Lincoln Child Center, Sunny Hills Services, Edgewood Center for Children and Families, Seneca Center, and Fred Finch Youth Services programs. The collective agencies are all non-profit organizations from the Bay Area and provide mental health services for both children and their families.
The exhibition’s premise is that the process of making art can provide a beacon of hope and transform the lives of children as well as the world we live in. This exhibit provides an opportunity for the public to see the work of these children and learn more about art, the children who have created it, and the impact it is making on their lives.
The exhibit will open for viewing on April 21st, 2007 and end with a celebration including a panel discussion, auction, entertainment, video, hors d’oeuvres, and beverages on April 28th, 2007.
